Black Dot - Ice Breakers & Group Team-building Tasks
Courtesy of Alf Grigg
Purpose
- How to get participants to think creatively
Equipment
- Flipchart paper and a black marker
Process
A
large black dot is drawn in the middle of a piece of flipchart paper.
The participants are asked, "What does this represent to you?" As ideas
are generated, they are written down on the flipchart paper. The words
are then expanded to provide more detail to develop the idea for a
theme or a special day. For example the black dot may represent a
clown's nose. Words that might develop the idea are face painting,
juggling, humour in the workplace, fun environment, role playing and
doing things for charity. A discussion could follow on other things to
take into account when running a special activity such as, space,
equipment, supplies, budget and staffing.
