Growing a tree of knowledge - Ice Breakers & Group Team-building Tasks
Courtesy of Alf Grigg
Concern
- Getting participants to realize the importance of evaluation
Equipment
- For
each participant: five cut out leaves, a styrofoam cup, 30 cm of masking
tape and paper rolled in a scroll and taped. Cut each end of the scroll
into 5 strips (10 cm)
long) to form roots and branches.
Process
Have participants
tape one end of the scroll (roots of the tree) to the inside on the bottom
of the styrofoam cup. The scroll of paper should be standing upright (trunk
of the tree) At the end of each segment of your workshop or presentation
the participants take a leaf and write down something they have learned
i.e.: a new icebreaker. They attach the leaf to a branch of the tree. Note:
the number of leaves needed varies according to the number of segments in
the presentation or workshop. At the end, the participants have a tree of
knowledge they can place on their desks. The learning can re reinforced
by other people going by their desk and asking what the tree represents.
