Job Title: LIT Program Facilitator
Location: 20 Portugal Square and/or 101 Spruce Street
Contract type: Seasonal – 10 weeks Position
Duration: Monday June 19th, 2017 - Friday August 25th, 2017 Hours/Wage: $13/hr. - 35-40 hours per week between 8am and 6pm
Reporting to: Youth Services Coordinator
Job Description: • Assist in developing and implementing a Leader in Training (LIT) program for young people 14-18 years of age that develops skills, confidence and competencies in Community Service, Healthy Choices, Teamwork, Leadership and Learning for Life. • Support the placement of LITs in leadership positions in day camp program and work to enhance the healthy development of youth • Work co-operatively with staff, volunteers, parents, and participants in developing an effective team • Assist staff in supporting LITs • Problem solve effectively making decisions based on fairness, consistency and common sense • Supervise activities and ensure safety and inclusion of all participants in program activities • Complete paperwork in a timely manner (program plans, program reports and evaluations and incident reports) • Maintain positive professional relationships with peers, campers, parents, community members and other Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Clubs patrons • Adhere to Toronto Kiwanis Boys and Girls Clubs Policies and Procedures and maintain a safe and healthy working environment • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: • Minimum 16 years of age • Experience working with youth 14-18 years of age • Experience supervising a team of three or more staff • Standard first aid qualifications (acquired before first day of training) • HIGHFIVE - Principles of Healthy Childhood Development • Must be able to participate in aquatic activities on a daily basis • Currently enrolled full time in an Academic Institution with intent to return in the Fall of 2017
