Take Action Webinars
Held On
Feb 16, 2010, Mar 24, 201
Description
In response to the Active Healthy Kids Canada 2009 Report Card, ParticipACTION developed the Take Action Guide - a resource intended to help you take the Report Card recommendations further and turn the research into action. The Take Action Guide was developed for all of us who are working towards getting children and youth more physically active - from NGOs to public health to sport organizations and municipal recreation departments. As a next step, ParticipACTION has teamed up with Active Healthy Kids Canada to develop two webinars.
Join us on February 16th and March 24th, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. to delve further into the Report Card findings and some key recommendations.
The webinars will focus on:
Familiarizing participants with the long form report card
Delving in to one to two key recommendations
Determining any actions (individual or through a coordinated approach) that interested partners could undertake.
February 16th: Physical Activity and Sport Participation in the community and at school
March 24th: Physically Active Kids - the influence of Family, Peers and Community
Focus in February February's Take Action webinar will focus specifically on how we can work together, and engage the public sector, on establishing and linking programs intended to help children achieve physical activity targets. For example, we'll discuss how schools, the community and families can each contribute 30 minutes of physical activity (30-30-30) to help kids reach the 90 minutes of physical activity recommended by Canada's Physical Activity Guides for children and youth. A component related to this topic is the marketing that promotes the joint responsibility and contribution of different partners. We will also touch on the after school time frame as well as physical education policies.
To participate in one or both of the webinars, please contact Sarah Newham at
