Pickering kids get kick start with funding
Description
Pickering has received a Healthy Community Fund grant from the Ministry of Health Promotion to help launch the city's Kick-Start program for youth, a new two-year program for 11- to 15-year-olds. The program promotes fitness and making healthy choices. The first phase is expected to kick off in October and will be run by staff out of the Pickering Recreation Complex.
"Fitness, nutrition and injury prevention are the three key points in the program," said Sharon Milton, Pickering supervisor of facility programs, who helped spearhead the program.
