This discussion paper is intended to mobilize potential partners in a Nova Scotia falls prevention strategy by increasing their understanding of falls and how they can be prevented. Section one presents the personal and environmental conditions that cause people to fall and section two describes successful strategies to address them. The document is not intended as a comprehensive review of falls but rather as a tool for stimulating reflection, discussion and collaborative action in Nova Scotia.
