This article describes how for several families in Richmond, British Columbia, the desire to find opportunities for their children with disabilities led them and other interested residents to take action to create a therapeutic riding program. Together they formed the Richmond Therapeutic Equestrian Society which has developed and is now operating an equestrian program for people with disabilities.
