Application of Value-Based Project Delivery to Recreation and Parks Management
Speakers: Jake Smithwick, Jeff Sawyer
Review of the value-based model and its specific application to recreation and parks management. Includes factors for success, public engagement strategies, and planning and design techniques. The model has three phases: selection (identification of a potential expert), clarification (planning before a contract is awarded), and risk management (measuring project performance against the plan). Discusses the application of the value-based model on a City’s $20M park and recreation renewal effort, including master planning, final construction documentation, playgrounds, natural resources, and other components of the City-wide program.
