CRD's Regional Parks: Managing a Diverse Park System – Balancing Environmental Sensitivity with Increased Visitor Use

Regional Parks, Parks and Community Services
Janette Loveys

This presentation looks at how the Capital Regional District’s Regional Parks protects and manages more than 13,000 hectares of spectacular natural areas in 30 parks and 3 regional trails on Southern Vancouver Island and the Southern Gulf Islands. It looks at how balancing a wide range of sustainable recreational opportunities, alongside managing and protecting important and often sensitive habitats, becomes key to creating a lifetime of experiences.
