'The 2009 Economic Burden of Injury in Canada' updates and builds on the original 1998 report, outlining the enormous costs of both intentional and unintentional injuries and breaking the data down by province as well as nationally. The study revealed that injury costs Canadians $19.8 billion annually and remains the leading cause of death for Canadians aged one to 44, taking the lives of 13,667 people in 2004.
