Major Incident! Preparing for the Aftermath
Co-presenters: Gary Sanger, City of Toronto; Michael Shane, Lifesaving Society; Dr. Roger P. Skinner, Regional Supervising Coroner, Toronto West Region
Major incidents in parks and recreation settings can devastate hosting organizations and communities. This workshop emphasizes the importance of having a response process in place—including a process for dealing with police, media and the coroner’s office. Explains how to begin developing those processes. Establishing major incident procedures affirms community confidence in safe operating standards and recreation service delivery. Workshop participants received a Lifesaving Society Workbook and CD of the session.
A presentation from the 2013 Parks and Recreation Ontario Educational Forum and Trade Show.
