This presentation discusses the concept of "marketing" in recreation as it has moved from enhancing user satisfaction, to user benefits, to community benefits. It looks back at the roots of the recreation and parks movements as they grew from the need to provide healthier cities and combat juvenile crime and summarizes the lessons learned in terms of positioning, from those early movements.
Presentation from the National Recreation Summit, 2011, and the 2011 Alberta Recreation and Parks Association Annual Conference and Energize Workshop.
