Securing Parks and Trails to Expand Economy, Tourism and Community Benefits

Patrick Connor

Co-Presenters: Patrick Connor, Ontario Trails Council; Robert Orland, Orland Conservation

While residents, visitors and community service providers place high value on quality parks and trails, securing new space can be a political challenge. It helps to articulate the true worth of green space, including increased nature-based tourism, higher property values, environmental improvements and social/health benefits. This session introduces strategies for broadening your network of parks, trails and greenspace in ways that serve both community and political interests.
