Most municipal recreation departments try to take steps to accommodate those living in the community who have special considerations based on some form of physical or mental disability. The availability of adapted recreation equipment such as a hippocampe, trike or sledge can be very beneficial to the health and wellbeing of these individuals and families. Provides advice from staff at the IWK on things to consider if you want to start a program and describes how a couple of regions in the province have already begun.
