This session reviews two provincial initiatives introduced in the past year that may influence how communities serve children and youth. First, it focuses on Stepping Up, an evidence-based framework for youth initiatives that local governments have begun to incorporate into planning. It also examines the community response and looks at how the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services is supporting these municipalities. Next, it reviews relevant sections of the recently introduced Child Care Modernization Act and considers what effect, if any, this new legislation will have on after school program service delivery.
