Understanding the needs of Ontario's Aging Population: Age-Friendly Community Planning

Virginia Stewart

Co-presenters: Virginia Stewart, Brock University; John Lewis, University of Waterloo

It all starts with programs that build positive intergenerational relationships. When aging is better understood, attitudes change and recreation becomes more age-inclusive. As communities get on board, inclusivity extends even further. This session touches on intergenerational programming and Ontario’s new Age-Friendly Community Planning Guide, and how to use both to better understand and target services to meet older adults’ needs.

A presentation from the 2014 Parks and Recreation Ontario Educational Forum and Trade Show.
