Trails and campgrounds are available in most communities now. They have the potential to not only get residents active but to have a positive economic impact through attracting visitors to a community. The proper layout and redevelopment of a campground will better serve visitor needs and yield positive results in terms of increasing visitation. Jaspers Whistlers Campground provides a background for the discussion. Kneehill County is used to present a business case for redevelopment and expansion of trails and campgrounds. The Glenbow Ranch trail assessment is used to show what works and what doesn’t in trail development.
