Who are the People in Your Neighbourhood?

Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA)
David Redmond

Describes a project of CPRA which consulted with recreation practitioners, non-governmental organizations, and representatives from provincial and territorial parks and recreation associations about the barriers they face in engaging Aboriginal people, new Canadians, girls and young women, people with disabilities, and older adults in recreation. CPRA also set out to determine what initiatives are being undertaken to engage the target populations, what resources are available, and how recreation practitioners have dealt with these challenges.

Presentation from the 2006 National Parks and Recreation Conference and Trade Show, held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
