Program Description

It takes 21 days to make a habit, so this community-wide event encourages participants to exercise as often as they can for 10 minutes at a time. Each 10 minutes of activity is worth a certain number of points. Participants call in their collected points each week to qualify for weekly prizes and submit total days worth of points at the end to qualify for grand prizes. People could participate as individuals or as a team of 2 - 6 people. A team captain was responsible to tally points of each member and submit to the weekly draws. All ages were allowed to participate.

Impact Of Program: 

13 teams consisting of 5 members per team.

Key Elements Towards Success: 

A volunteer with one of the partner organizations took the lead.Partnering with others enabled the purchase of prizes. A flyer was mailed out to every individual and business. Each KO team member received a water bottle holder, one month free membership to the Red Lake Community Centre, pencil and a zipper tag.

This program began in 2001 and is ongoing.
