Beaver Olympics

Organization Sponsor: Scouts Canada - Nova Scotia Council

Organization Partner: Scouts Canada

Program Description

The 2nd Bible Hill Beavers recently held their 3rd Annual Beaver Olympics for youth ages 5-7 who are part of the group. Olympic Torch Bearer Judy Brown and group flag-bearers led us into the church hall where we met. We began with O'Canada and moved into the following 'olympic' activities: Javelin (pool noodle tossing); Discus (frizbee); target tossing (beanbags in holes of various sizes); Hyper Dash Relay (running relay listening carefully to instructions) and ended with each youth doing a lap of the hall with the torch and taking home their own mini torch (TP tube) and a closing/medal ceremony complete with a crest made especially for the event.

A good time was had by all! The youth were excited about the event and we were pleased to have the torch bearer and torch there for the youth to appreciate. The tie in timing wise with the winter Olympics was great. This is an annual event for us to help beat the 'Winter Blahs".
