Program Description

Floorball, a type of floor hockey, is an indoor team sport which was developed in the 1970s in Sweden
Floorball can be played practically anywhere and is ideal for schools, community centres or for hockey teams as dry-land training. It can be played co-ed up to the highest levels of play. Floorball is played in 50 countries around the world and received provisional recognition from the International Olympic Committee in December 2008. Semi-professional leagues are played in Finland, Sweden, Switzerland and the Czech Republic and the recent World Championships featured Finland and Sweden.
The Canada Cup Floorball Championship, founded in 2004 as a way to bring a small group of North American floorball pioneers together, has evolved into an annual event with international appeal. Every spring, the floorball world turns its sights on Toronto to follow the Canada Cup, the undisputed crown jewel of North American floorball. Whether you live in Toronto or are visiting us for the tournament, we are delighted to welcome you and wish you an unforgettable experience at the Canada Cup, North America's premier floorball event!

Key Elements Towards Success: 

.Floorball is a fast-paced, exciting, safe and low-cost type of indoor hockey. At first glance, it resembles floor hockey or ball hockey but is played with specialized light-weight fibre glass or carbon fibre sticks and rules that promote safety and skill.

Length and Stage of Project: 

The tournament takes place every May long weekend. Grassroots Floorball leagues happen in a 10-12 week duration about 2-3 times per year. It began in Canada 2004.
