Program Description

With the help from a grant from the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority our local recreation Complex was able to offer a Family Fitness class for minimal fee of $15.00 (per family), for sessions of Family Fitness. The sessions include 30mins of land-fit followed by fun in the pool.
The families enjoy moving to music in the fitness classes which include a warm-up with a short cardiovascular workout followed by the strength and endurance training working with a fitness ball, rubber bands and just plain mat work. Every week they learn something new about their bodies and how to make them stronger. They learn important safety cues and we have a nutrition tip of the week. We always end the classes with a game that the kids want to play, and then they are off to the pool for more family fun. This program helps to build confidence and brings families closer together.
Equipment space:
Fitness room with mirrors, music and sound system with mic (but a gym with a ghetto blaster would work) mats, fitness balls, rubber bands (a swimming pool for second half).
