Hawkesbury Youth Soccer League - Private, Community and Government Partnership.

Organization Sponsor: Healthy Rhythm Coalition

Organization Partner: Eastern Ontario Health Unit

Program Description

There was no soccer league existing in Hawkesbury and kids had to travel to other towns to participate in soccer, which was a deterrent to many families. Representatives from the Town, the Heart Health Coalition, the private sector and parents got together to organize a league. The Heart Health Coalition paid for the training of coaches and referees. The Town provided the maintenance of soccer fields. The private sector provided the soccer balls. Parents volunteered to coach. 1999 was the first season and 150 children took part in the league.
