Jungle Romp March Break

Program Description

This camp is based on the Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book. Using the sound track from Walt Disney's movie children ages 6-12 will be introduced to the incredible world of dance and movement in a fun, non competitive environment. Children will explore dance technique, drumming and physical theatre skills while developing creativity, focus, and self awareness. Kids wear active comfortable clothes , dance shoes, socks or sneakers.Experienced teachers were hired to teach dance, physical theatre and drumming. As a break craft and art projects based on the themes were offered.

Strategies For Sustainability: 

This is a well established dance school that can attract skilled teachers. The school itself has 5 studios and paid staff.There is a march break camp every year but the themes change. Last year Dungeons and Dragons was offered.

Impact Of Program: 

Halifax Dance programs are very successful and often the same participants return each year. The camp is designed for about 20 kids. This program was well liked and attendance was high.

Key Elements Towards Success: 

The quality of instruction is important as well as the variety of experiences. At the end of the week a performance for parents was created to showcase the weeks work. Having a well know popular story to follow with a ready made script and music make it successful.

Challenges To Meet Them: 

The most difficult problem is attracting the teachers. This can be costly if you are hiring top professionals but makes for a very rewarding experience.
