Program Description

Kidzact Association is a non profit organization formed by dance instructor, Deanna McCarron. The members consist of kids 5-18 years of age who love to dance and perform. Deanna recognizes the power of music, song and dance in motivating kids to become physically active.

The members of Kidzact are instructed in dance forms such as Hip Hop and Break dance and organized in professional productions for the entertainment of audiences of all ages.

Kidzact kids promise to follow the association motto " No drugs, No tobacco, No alcohol" and be role models for other kids. Kidzact has many dynamic dance groups who perform locally and on tour. They also raise money for charitable children's organizations.

The name "Kidzact" was derived from the phrase "Kids Take Action". This phrase is used because it represents the intended purposes of the group.

"Kids Take Action" to strive to be the best they can be.

"Kids Take Action" to be role models for other kids by promoting the alcohol, tobacco and drug free motto.

Strategies For Sustainability: 

Dance and performance classes are held weekly. The routines are organized into performances. To achieve the professional product that Kidzact has become known for, many hours of planning and practice are required.
The group has developed a media package introducing the group to potential booking prospects. Past appearances include the Yarmouth Exhibition, Meadowfield's and Plymouth schools, the Acadian Village in Pubnico, various productions at Th'Yarc and Tidal View to name a few.

Impact Of Program: 

Kidzact performances highlight the talent of these kids in a display of high energy dancing and singing enhanced by lights, slide and/or video shows. Profits from shows are donated to children's charities raising awareness of the kids involved of how they are able to make a difference in the lives of other children with their efforts.Over 500 kids have participated in Kidzat. There are 3 levels of performance crews with local and provincial performances through out the year.

Evaluation Tools: 

Evaluations of the programs are done through Yarmouth Leisure Services. The quality of dance is demonstrated through the success of the competition groups who win medals at all events.

“Every year we work harder and harder to perfect our style and synchronization, as well as good quality chirography, ”Under the direction of Deanna McCarron, this high energy song and dance troupe presents a dynamic and sparkling program that is both high energy and creative. Along with fabulous costumes and choreography, KIDZACT is perfect family entertainment. This group, ages 4 to 18 years of age will delight and entertain you from start to finish.

Challenges To Meet Them: 

A great deal of time is devoted to performance rehearsal for performing groups. Kids commit to booked performances and can commit for different events. This adds a level of professional experience not normally experienced at regular dance studio. There are 3 performance groups for different ages and they have performed for the biggest events in Nova Scotia like the Canada Games. They also completed a Maritime Summer tour.
