Program Description

A climbing wall and required equipment was purchased and placed in the Kingston Elementary School Gym. The wall is used during gym classes and in after school programs by both the elementary school and Pine Ridge Middle School, which is located just across the street. In total approximately 1200 children use the equipment during and/or after school.

Funding Sources: 

$10,000 from each sponsor

Strategies For Sustainability: 

Three year program. Run adult programs and all funds from those are funneled into youth programs.

Impact Of Program: 

Pulling two schools and community together. A family together program is planned for Friday evenings or Saturdays.

Key Elements Towards Success: 

Funding is #1. Both schools close together does not require school day transportation.

Challenges To Meet Them: 

Transportation for after school programs. Changes in staff are always challenging and keeping staff long term has been challenging. Availability of instructors, volunteers.
