The Canadian Curling Association Rocks & Rings program is designed to introduce the Olympic sport of curling to elementary school children. By bringing the curling rink to the school gym we reach children that would otherwise not have access to the roaring game.
Interior Community Services is receiving thousands of dollars in federal funding to teach young families the art of canning. Seniors Minister Alice Wong says 25 thousand dollars will go towards the "We Can Together" program. Up to 100 seniors will volunteer their time to teach young families how to preserve food. Wong says the program will benefit seniors as well.
The Sheridan Senior Center introduces a new Summer Senior Outdoor Activity Program for 2014. Part of this program is free bikes for use. You can check out a bike and a helmet for the day just by signing your name.
Sheridan Senior Center has added this new program to their recreation and fitness activities. Biking for Seniors!
Highlight of Programs / Services Offered:
- The R.E.A.L Program is a service that matches children and with organized, registered recreational activities of their choice. The R.E.A.L. Program is administered through the City of St. John’s, Department of Recreation; however, the Program is supported and guided by the R.E.A.L. Program Steering Committee, which consists of representatives from various community and government agencies as well as interested individuals.
Eastern Ontario's first Stand Up Paddle business now in it's 4th year serving Canada's Capital Region.
Stand Up Paddling (SUP) is the fastest growing water sport because it's fun and easy to learn. It's a sport for all ages and abilities from touring around on flatwater to running whitewater or catching a wave SUP has caught on. You can find SUP on lakes, rivers, oceans and even in pools around the world from floating yoga to SUP racing there is SUPthing for everyone!
The Clare Recreation Department offers a monthly calendar of physical activities for youth, such as swimming and skating. Activities take place on Mondays from 3:15 - 4:15 p.m. A leader is hired one day per week in each elementary school to offer physical activity programming for students in grades 4 to 6 from 2:15 to 5:00 p.m.
Inspire youngsters about wildlife, woods and trees with the Woodland Trust's nature detectives CLUB membership. It gets children outdoors exploring, enjoying the magic of every season with fresh ideas and things to do, at home and in the woods. Suitable for children of 5 to 13 years old.
